The iPad 2

In mid April, I myself bought an iPad 2, Wi-fi, 16G White. I've had it for almost two months now, and can hardly put it down. So before I get started, here's the first question: What's the point? When the iPad first generation came out, I thought it looked pretty cool, but at the same time useless. It was an iPod touch, or an iTouch, whatever you like to call it, just huge and four times the money. Or an iPhone that can't call. It was all the rage, and then I thought about what it could do. It had a pretty good screen, nice looking, overall, overrated, though. So maybe some people would buy it. It was a giant iPod touch, and that's it.
However, at least 15 of my friends had an iPod touch, and I didn't. And whenever I saw it, the beautiful iPod, I had a weird urge to play Scoops and Dizzypad. I was obsessed with it for a little while, and then I remembered that I already had 3 regular iPods. No, I did not need an iPod touch. I needed something that would serve more of a purpose. Something that was more fun, or, exciting. Or bigger.
So I took a look at my friend's iPad. It was cool, exciting, and fun, and what I seemed to be looking for. At this time my friend just got the iPhone 4, and was dying to Facetime with me. Of course I didn't have anything. I still looked at the iPad and then thought, "This thing needs a camera. In the front." And, "This would look a million times better in white... and if it were smaller..." Well guess what. I went on the Apple Store (Online, of course, I couldn't live without online shopping!) and there it was. The iPad two. Two cameras. Thinner. White. Amazing.
So I bought one.
I came home and within one hour I downloaded apps of all sorts, including my famous Scoops and Dizzypad. "Blah, blah, blah, it's a stupid overpriced piece of crap." is what my brother said. But within a day he was begging to play Words with Friends.
Everyone definitely loves it, it brings a lot of attention, and  is very exciting. It has great apps, a great display, and a great look.

The obvious first con of this thing is price. I mean, it ranges from $500 to $900! Crazy! I love it, but it is too much. Some people could take a trip with that kind of money. But if you'll splurge on it, here are some other things to consider. A lot of apps are free, but the big battle games everybody loves cost some big bucks. And Garage Band is a pretty awesome app, but why spend 5 bucks on it when you could download Magic Piano and La Di Da for 99 cents? Anyway, the display is another thing. It's beautiful with iPad apps, but iPhone apps that you have to have look pretty crappy blown up on the big screen. I mean, they should make iPad versions, but they can't do anything sometimes. But I deal with it. Lastly, the camera. Um, so, if the iPhone apps look bad on here, well, look at the camera. It has the same amount of megapixels as the iPhone, but on a device 4 times the size! Its all pixely. But it's fine, not like Photobooth is my life... at least in public. And you know what else? Isn't it pretty awkward when the lady next to you on the park bench wonders why you are taking pictures of yourself? "Oh, I'm taking pictures of the pigeons..."
So, why buy? It's fun, educational, perfect for classrooms, helps you keep up with stuff, lets you surf the internet, has beautiful backgrounds, and more. What's not to love? Well, I'd ask your wallet that.
Overall, it's a lot more fun than I expected.  I do love it. I bet I could find something better to do with $500, but an iPad 2 is good enough for me now.
Outcome: Buy, if you have no use for $500 but if you do, buy it anyway! I like it. But not if you are childish, like me. I spend most of my time on photobooth and scoops!
